RDA Illawarra has welcomed the new $297 million Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) announced yesterday by Senator Fiona Nash, Minister for Regional Development.
“The BBRF gives Councils and community groups the opportunity to apply for funding for projects that will create jobs, drive economic growth and build a stronger Illawarra region,” said RDA Illawarra CEO Debra Murphy.
“The Illawarra has benefited from the previous National Stronger Regions Fund (now BBRF), with Wollongong City Council recently awarded $10 million to support the West Dapto project.”
“A range of projects can be funded under the BBRF, from infrastructure to local events. When the Government invests in a region, in partnership with the community, it builds confidence. The new Community Investments stream could help expand a local event or activity; assist with strategic planning or support regional leadership and capability building activities.”
The BBRF Program Guidelines outline the type of project proposals sought, how to lodge an application, how the assessment will be conducted, and critical program dates. Applications open on 18th January 2017 and close on 28 February 2017.
“RDA Illawarra is here to help potential applicants; please contact us for assistance via firstname.lastname@example.org.”
