WORKFORCE PARTICIPATION IN THE ILLAWARRA
Over the past twenty years at least, there has been a notable deterioration in the level of workforce participation by males in the Illawarra, from already low levels relative to NSW and national levels. In April 2017, RDA Illawarra commissioned IRIS Research to explore and measure the attitudes towards and motivations of workforce participation in the Illawarra region which could provide insights that can help in future policy setting and advocacy to maximise regional productivity and community connectedness.

360 ECONOMIC PROSPECTUS
The region is developing an information prospectus which highlights the regional and net-state benefits of the Illawarra connecting to economic opportunities in surrounding regions. The prospectus will provide a ‘360 degree’ overview of how the Illawarra’s skills, assets and capabilities can connect with identified future growth opportunities and economic drivers in Sydney; Western Sydney; the South Coast/ACT; and the Port Kembla international trade gateway.
